Longtime staff member promoted to new role
RALEIGH, NC - Katie Bradbury Wellman has been named director of enrollment management and financial Aid at Saint Mary’s School, effective August 16, 2022.
Wellman joined the admission office staff at Saint Mary’s in 2015, serving in various roles. She served previously at Saint Mary’s as instructor of mathematics, director of student activities, dorm head, residential faculty member, assistant dean of students and director of student programs. She was a past recipient of the Mabel M. Morrison Teacher of the Year Award at Saint Mary’s. From 2008-2010, she served as middle school dean of students at Saint Mark’s Episcopal School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was also a math teacher in the Wake County School System in North Carolina.
She graduated cum laude from Salem College with a B.S. in mathematics and a minor in Chemistry and holds a master’s in education from Harvard University.
“Whenever we can recognize the talent from within our school it benefits the continuity of work we collectively achieve together,” says Julie Ricciardi, Saint Mary’s associate head of school for institutional advancement. “Katie is an exemplary example of living into every facet of the work we do with students. Her leadership is important because of her time in the classroom, student-life, and enrollment.”
As a cradle Episcopalian and daughter of an Episcopal priest, Wellman embraces her work in Episcopal schools like Saint Mary’s.
A native of Washington, North Carolina, Wellman resides in Raleigh, North Carolina, with her husband and stepdaughter. The Wellmans enjoy traveling, playing tennis, being on the Pamlico River or Lake Gaston, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
"I’m thrilled for the opportunity to lead the admission team and I’m proud of the work we have done to open the school year with record enrollment," says Wellman. "We will capitalize on this momentum as we move into the next admission season, continuing our work to recruit even more girls whose lives will be shaped by the Saint Mary’s experience. For 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of being part of this community. I continue to be passionate about our mission and am honored to be part of the Saint Mary’s story."
